Transfer a domain.
Here is how to bring your domain to ProMedia24 – via AuthCode, on a clear schedule and without your website or email going offline.
Set up first, switch over later
So that nothing goes down, we set up your website and mailboxes with us before the domain is finally switched over. Do not cancel your old contract too early – otherwise you lose access to the source data.
Keep the domain active with your old provider until the transfer is complete. A cancelled domain can block the move.
Request the AuthCode
Ask your current provider for the AuthCode (also called Auth-Info or transfer key).
Add the domain with us
Start the domain order or transfer in the customer center and enter the AuthCode.
Prepare your content
Set up your website and mailboxes with us in advance and check everything via a test URL. That way everything is ready when you switch over.
Transfer in progress
The transfer starts automatically. Depending on the extension it takes a few hours to several days. For some extensions the domain holder also receives a confirmation email; for .de the AuthCode is enough.
Check & cancel the old contract
Once it is finished we check availability and mail delivery. Only then should you cancel the old contract – an overlap of around 14 days is a good idea.
