How we measure – and what the number does not say

ValueHow it is measuredWhat the number does not say
UptimeEvery 15 minutes our monitoring records the state of each service on the status page. We count the share of checks in which everything was normal over the last 90 days. Rounded down, never up.An outage that starts and ends between two checks is not seen. The number looks back; it is not a promise – the promise is below.
Server response timeEvery hour we request a WordPress site in our own test account on the ordinary WebBasic plan three times and store the middle value until the first byte. We show the median and the value reached by 9 out of 10 measurements over 30 days. Page cache: on, as selectable in the one-click installation. We measure from our data centre in Germany. The number shows how fast the web space responds – not how long a page takes to load at your home. Your connection, images, fonts and page size come on top. If the site answers in fewer than 95 % of measurements, we show no number.
Support response timeFrom our ticket system: time from the request to the first reply by a person on the team, as a median over 90 days. Unanswered requests count as “very slow” instead of dropping out.A median means half of the requests were answered faster and the other half slower. Above 24 hours we show no number.
Support ratingCustomers can rate every closed request once in the customer centre with 1 to 5 stars. We show the average of the last 12 months, rounded down.Rating is voluntary, so only customers who take the time to rate are counted.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about the measured values

Why is there no number for a value?
Every value needs a minimum number of measurements before it appears – for example 30 measured days for uptime or 20 requests for the response time. A number from three measurements would be a claim, not a measurement.
How fast will my website load with you?
The server response time above applies to a plain standard WordPress site. Your own site may be faster or slower depending on theme, plugins and images – and for a visitor, their internet connection and the size of the page come on top.
Can I check the numbers?
You can see the availability of individual services at any time on our status page. All values on this page are also in the file messwerte.json, with period and number of measurements.
