Your move to us – step by step.

The migration assistant brings your website, database, mailboxes and domain over to us in one job. One question per step, you can see what is happening at any time – and at your old provider we only read, we never change anything.

01 · What comes along

Everything that belongs to your site, in one job.

Website filesVia FTP, FTPS or SFTP – the whole folder, even with thousands of files. If the connection drops, it continues where it stopped.
DatabaseFor WordPress and other applications: the database is transferred and created on our side.
MailboxesAll folders and messages via IMAP. Several mailboxes at once, also merged into one mailbox.
Domain and DNSBefore the transfer we take over the records your domain serves today – otherwise your email would stop after the switch.
02 · How it works

1 · Recognise your provider

You enter your domain, the assistant recognises your current provider from its name servers and mail servers and fills in what it can: server addresses, ports, the format of the user name.

2 · Fetch instead of typing

With many large providers the assistant reads your domains and DNS records itself through their official interface: all-inkl.com, IONOS, Cloudflare, netcup, INWX, Hostinger, Gandi, GoDaddy, cPanel. The credentials for your customer account with the old provider are used for this one request only and are not stored on our side. If your provider is not listed, we look up publicly what your domain serves – including subdomains from the public certificate logs.

3 · Watch it copy

The transfer runs in the background, you can close the page. When you come back you see for each website and each mailbox how many files and messages have arrived – and if something does not work, the reason.

4 · Switch over when everything is ready

Your website first runs on a preview address with us, your current site stays online. Only when you are happy does the domain move. Email that still arrived at the old provider in the meantime is picked up by a second sync.

03 · What else the assistant takes care of

The steps that are easy to forget when moving.

Size and duration up frontBefore anything is copied, the assistant measures website and mailboxes and states the expected duration. If it will not fit into your webspace, we tell you beforehand.
A message when it is doneYou do not have to keep the page open. We write to you as soon as the move is done – or when a part needs your help.
Copy checked automaticallyThe copy runs under a preview address. The assistant compares it with your current website and reports when something does not match.
Same PHP versionThe PHP version of your current provider is taken over if we offer it. Otherwise you see a note.
Preferred date and short switch-overYou can name a date for the switch. The assistant measures the validity period (TTL) of your DNS records and tells you when the switch takes effect.
Switching with a way backIf the domain is with us, you switch website and email with one click – and can undo it for 24 hours.
Help with cancellingAfter the switch, the assistant tells you when you can cancel with your old provider – and that it must only be the hosting while the domain is still moving.
04 · What you can rely on

At your old provider we only read.

Nothing changes at your old providerMailboxes are opened read-only – not even a read flag is set there. Your way back stays open.
Mailbox and FTP credentials only for the moveThey are stored encrypted and deleted as soon as the move is finished or you end it – after a failure at the latest after 7 days.
No duplicate emailA second run recognises what has already arrived and only copies what is missing.
Help when it gets stuckEvery move has a reference number. If the assistant gets stuck, our team sees the same status as you.

What does a move with the assistant cost?
Nothing. The assistant comes with every web hosting package. You only need a package with us to move into.
Do I need a package first?
Yes, the assistant moves into your web space with us. Without a package it offers to order one – or you let us do the move.
My provider is not in the list – does it still work?
Yes. Then you enter the server address and credentials yourself. We read your domain’s DNS records publicly before anything moves.
What if I get stuck?
Then our team takes over – with the same reference number and without you starting again. Or you have us do the whole move via our moving form.
Do I have to cancel my old contract first?
No, please only afterwards. While the move is running we need access to the source data. Cancel once your website and email run with us and the domain has moved.
