Set up your email mailbox the right way.
Here is how to add your ProMedia24 mailbox to Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail or your smartphone – with IMAP, so all devices show the same state.
IMAP or POP3?
We recommend IMAP: your emails stay on the server, all devices (PC, laptop, phone) show the same state. POP3 downloads emails and usually deletes them from the server – only useful if you deliberately archive locally. This guide uses IMAP.
You will find the exact server names after creating the mailbox in the customer center under “Webspace → Email”. Always use the values shown there.
Create the mailbox in the customer center
Log in to the customer center, open “Webspace → Email” and create a new mailbox. Choose a secure password and note the full address, e.g. name@your-domain.com.
Add the account in your email program
In Outlook: File → Add Account. In Thunderbird: Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account. Choose manual setup and the account type IMAP.
Enter the incoming server (IMAP)
Enter the IMAP server shown in the customer center under “Webspace → Email” in the connection details of the mailbox.
- Port:
993 - Encryption:
SSL/TLS - Username: the full email address
Enter the outgoing server (SMTP)
Enter the same server as the SMTP server.
- Port:
465(SSL) or587(STARTTLS) - Authentication: the same access data as for the incoming server
Then the incoming server uses port 995 (SSL/TLS) or 110 (STARTTLS); the outgoing server stays as above. Take the server name from the customer center just as for IMAP – do not simply assume mail.your-domain.com.
Test & done
Send yourself a test email. If it arrives and can be sent, everything is correct. If needed, set up the account on your smartphone following the same scheme.
