A move is a matter of trust: you give us access to your current provider, and afterwards your website should run exactly as it did before. That is why we have made the move safer and more transparent in several places.
Sending your login details securely
Please do not send us passwords by email. Under Webspace → Umzug, enter the access details we need, such as the FTP access or a mailbox with your current provider.
- The details are stored encrypted and are deleted automatically after 14 days or when the move is complete.
- Only our team can read them, and every time they are viewed is logged.
- After you submit it, you can no longer see the password yourself. Simply change it with your current provider after the move.
You always know where the move stands
- Before the start, the assistant tells you how large your website and mailboxes are and roughly how long the transfer will take.
- The PHP version of your current website is detected and carried over, so that it does not fail with us because of a different version.
- You will receive an email as soon as the move is complete, or if it gets stuck at any point. So you do not need to keep the page open.
Preview first, then switch
Before your domain points to us, you can view the copy of your website with us, and we also check it automatically. The switch happens only when you want it to, and on request at a time you set.
And if something is not right afterwards: for 24 hours, the switch can be undone with one click. Your DNS records will then be exactly as they were before.
